It has been a long-time dream of my to build a car like this, and there are a lot of people I
need to thank for helping me make it happen. First off I would like to thank my dad for
purchasing the car for me. Even though I used up my entire life savings modifying this car,
I never hide the fact that it was my dad's money that bought the car in the first place. I'm
proud to have a father who loves me that much, and had to get financing to buy me my
dream car. Thanks dad!I would also like to thank the rest of my family for their support. It's fun picking out a body kit with your mom, and listening to her telling you how funny it is to have people look at her when she drives this car. It is also great discussing the finer points of suspension tuning with your sister. I really appreciate their understanding, and not sending me to the nut house for saying "I'll be in the garage" whenever I have any free time. Almost family is my girlfriend, who has shared her life with me since the 11th grade. She has been a huge supporter of my project and has helped with the decision making on almost every modification I have done. She's more careful with the car than I am, and still can not believe I scratched up the Spiders parking. (oops) Now onto car people. A big thanks goes to Brian Nguyen at Cantek Autobody (604) 276-8800 for being a good friend and doing such beautiful work on the custom everything job installing my kit and dual round headlights. The body work on this car is what most people notice first when they see it, and they are always extremely impressed with the workmanship. I always have to point out that it is a body kit, not a full bumper replacement before they notice it. And sometimes, they still don't believe me.
Rick and Lisa at PBR Performance deserve a big
thumbs up for all of their help in getting my Garrett chip. What an ordeal it was. FedEx had
managed to crush my ECM during transit, so I was out of an ECM to chip. It couldn't have
happened at a worse time either since two families were coming to visit. PBR rushed to get me
a replacement ECM to use while they got a new box to chip. They even picked up and dropped
off the boxes at my house. Excellent service. The bonus, I later got to meet the rest of the PBR crew, and have enjoyed all of the time I've spend with them cruising, eating dinners, and attending car shows. I would also like to give a huge thanks to Andrew at A&R Motorwork. It is hard to find an honest mechanic that will go out of their way to help you, stand behind their work, and still give you a fair price. Being an totally fun guy to hang around with doesn't hurt either. All of my mechanical work, including custom gauge install and the custom Audi specific turbo timer install to get around the pesky alarm, are all done by A&R Motorwork. Trust me, Andrew knows his VWs. Check out the A&R website. The gallery section shows just a few of the shop projects and some of their regular customer's rides. I first met Raymond of Tune Factor (604) 671-9871 in one of my business classes, and ran into him later at a local auto-x event where he was one of the top dogs in his class. Being a awesome mechanic with a huge imagination, Ray's been building custom intakes and exhaust for the local Japanese car scene for a while. Sure enough, I wasn't disappointed with his work on my Audi either. I had the only true cold air intake setup on a street A4 anywhere in the world, and it certainly made a huge difference. If you've got an idea no one else has, bring it to Ray. Because if there is a will, there is a way. And when we're in his shop, I am "Will", and he is "Way".
Stan Jirman gets a big thanks for tutoring me
some basic electronics and helping me to figure out how to rewire my fog light switches. Not
only did he help me with that particular project, it gave me the confidence to tackle a few
other wiring mods. Check out Stan's website for some very nice photos he took and more unique wiring mods for
the A4.A thanks also goes out to Chris Hlubb for lending his ear and giving me advice on anything and everything that comes across my head regarding A4 mods. He's just sold his sweet supercharged 2.8 30v, which his out-of-date website doesn't do it justice. But he has ordered a brand new 1.8t to start on, we're in for a treat when he finally gets that in his hands. Josef Molvidsson is my hookup in Europe. He's a true car enthusiast who loves his Norago Blue A4. and with him being across the pond, he gives me info on all sorts of products and trends never seen or even heard of on this side of the Atlantic. And that certainly helps when you're trying to make your car unique. A huge thanks goes out to Jason Teller and the rest of the crew at Audi World. I've learned more than anyone wants to know about the A4 through their website and discussion forums. It is where I met Stan, Chris, and Josef. It is also where I first met many of the Vancouver A4 Club members, who I would also like to thank for making it such a great club. I'm sure I left out a few people. If you think your name belongs in here and it's not, send me an angry e-mail. Depending on how angry the e-mail is, I may consider adding your name here. Or I may decide I have to move out of town if the e-mails are a bit too angry. =? |
